A simple enquiry leads to a bright partnership.

They're young, they're dedicated and they were in need of some fresh threads. So, in August this year Connor O'Shea, the CBO of the UNSW Engineering Sunswift eVe team requested if we might be open to sponsoring their solar car team with some branded polos.

It immediately grabbed our attention (despite one half of Activ Embroidery Designs being a muscle car petrolhead) because it involved driving cars fast and the future.

Their current polos were nice enough, but we wanted the team to really stand out and look the part so we supplied them with the awesome Biz Collection Razor polos and to keep the sun's rays at bay, some colour co-ordinated and branded baseball caps.

Since 1996 the Sunswift team have produced 5 cars with a 6th in the works and due to be unveiled around mid next year.

eVe (the current car) is the fastest electric car in the world over 500kms and due to be the first legally road registered solar sports car in Australia. For a rundown on what eVe is all about pelase click here

I got to throw the low slung solar car around the track at Sydney Motor Sport Park and it was a driving experience I won't forget. The power was instant. Despite the lack of power steering and standard road tyres, the ride at speed was very comfortable. Thanks to Simba for being a great navigator and co-driver. "Give it some more. Don't worry, it goes faster than you think." If only the straights were longer.........

While this car is a brilliant insight into the how-to and mechanics of a solar powered car, the next one will have all this and more.
